Shitcoin Newsletter #135 - Coinbase, Baldness and Memes
We are happy to report that there was plenty of interesting stuff happening this week, so we can avoid price talk (it only goes up anyway). This newsletter is full of spicy memes, haircut decisions and scams. We aim to please.
This week’s biggest news came out of Coinbase. Brian did it. He levelled up the net worth of himself, early backers and employees by taking Coinbase public.
Here’s a blast from the past. If you ever wanted reassurance that your shitty project can make it, check out what Coinbase was originally meant to be.
This news got many thinking, what’s next for FTX? At least one thing is clear, Sam may have to get rid of the lid to fit in at those secret billionaire meetings he’s now invited to. Maybe they’ll make him shave off the locks if he wants to ever go public.
Let the boomers have their bald leaders. Remember guys, it’s okay to be simp for Sam. He will make you rich.
Will he pump FTT to $100? Alex Wice hopes so.
With all of this good news it’s easy to think that crypto has mainstream acceptance now. Jesse anticipates that this likely is not the case. They are coming for us…
Turkey are already on the rollout.
HSBC are already all over it too. They are probably upset they didn’t get in on the action sooner. This is a good time to remind you that HSBC were fined $1.9b for failing to stop drug cartels laundering money…
Were they just upset that Saylor’s Board of Directors are now getting paid in BTC?
It’s safe to say that we’ve come a long way…
Here’s a tweet of Peter showing off his new car.
And Peter back at the gym with motivation to hand.
In other news, Cobie made a Twitch streamers day by sending him thousands of dollars. What a legend.
A couple of days later he was at it again on an even bigger scale. This is turning into a meme in itself. Will we be donating hundreds of thousands next?
He also dabbled in a bit of product placement.
The videos keep rolling in. Here’s another. We love crypto.
Meanwhile, Ethereum fees dropped to the lowest they’ve been in a while. Who would have guessed it?
Udi told CZ to sort his shit out.
In the midst of all of this, let’s take a minute to remember one of the best rug pulls in history.
Speaking of scams, here’s a quick start guide on how to actually use NFTs.
Which conveniently segues into our next section, welcome to the NFT Debris. This is the part of the newsletter where we share with you the most interesting NFTs of the week!
First up, this looks like a grift on a grift: an NFT sale, of a tweet, of a photo, from Fyre Fest, is being put up for auction with the goal of raising $80,000. It seems the guy who took the photo is only getting $36 for it so far. Rekt.
In other NFT goodness, here’s a super hot fire Elon NFT that we would like to get our hands on. We don’t know if it comes with the physical figurines but they’re sick. Video viewing advised.
To round this one off we’d like to take you to a set from one of our favourite crypto artists. It’s time for a split payment DJ set with cryptograffiti to take you into the weekend.
